How To Stay Happy and Healthy When Feeling Isolated

As I’m writing this, our country is in the midst of COVID-19 prevention measures. Many of us are operating in survival mode and the thought of being happy and healthy seems out of reach. I really believe if you incorporate these 5 things into your daily routine that you will find you can actually thrive during these challenging times.

1. Exercise and Eat Healthy. Exercise is not only good for our physical health but it helps to release endorphins (hormones released within the brain and nervous system) that help to control our mood. Exercise is one of the best ways to reduce stress, anxiety and depression. Regular exercise also helps us sleep better. 2. Make Phone Calls. While at home, make time to call friends and loved ones so you can feel connected. Especially when you feel yourself having a hard day, pick up the phone and check in with a loved one. A fun chat is always good for the soul.

3. Stick With A Routine. Being stuck at home makes it even more important to stick with a normal routine. Set an alarm so you can wake up at a close to regular time. Throw on some workout clothes and push play on an energizing workout. Shower and get dressed. When you look better you feel better. Have a list of things you want to accomplish so you can feel productive and maintain a sense of normalcy.

4. Get Outside. If at all possible, get outside and into nature. Go for a peaceful walk or hike, enjoy your morning coffee out on the porch and watch the birds playfully start their day, get up a little earlier and watch the sun rise. Vitamin D is crucial for a healthy immune system so make time to soak up a few minutes of sunshine.

5. Prayer. Studies show that regular prayer can reduce stress and anxiety levels by 79%. We can’t always control our circumstances so it’s important to have a strong faith and prayer practice. When we feel out of control, it’s important to talk to the One who is always in control. Make reading your Bible a daily non-negotiable. Keep a journal with your Bible and write down a prayer for the day, let God know what He can help you with and trust Him fully with your struggles and burdens. Never doubt how deeply He cares about you.

I want to leave you with a word of encouragement and a scripture in this season you are facing with having to be home more than normal; God is with you. You can without hesitation rely on Him fully and believe in the goodness of His word. “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27

    HI Michelle and team,

    I just want you to know how much I appreciate you. I have been working out with Faithful Workouts for at least two years, almost every day. I have no doubt your words and example of godliness and faithfulness are reaching out in new ways during this time of international isolation for many. I do not take for granted the gift of exercising to spiritually encouraging music with people with whom I will be celebrating forever in heaven.

    Here are some words written by Isaiah that I believe apply to you and all who follow the LORD. “Everyone, listen, even you foreign nations across the sea. The LORD chose me and gave me a name before I was born. He made my words pierce like a sharp sword or a pointed arrow; he kept me safely hidden in the palm of His hand. The LORD said to me, ‘Israel, you are my servant; and because of you I will be highly honored. I said to myself, ‘I am completely worn out; my time has been wasted. But I did it for the LORD God, and He will reward me.’ Even before I was born, the LORD God chose me to serve Him and to lead back the people of Israel. So the LORD has honored me and made me strong. Now the LORD says to me, ‘It isn’t enough for you to be merely my servant. You must do more than lead back survivors from the tribes of Israel. I have placed you here as a light to the nations; you must take my saving power to everyone on earth.” Isaiah 49:1-6 CEV

    You, Michelle, and your family and friends in ministry, are a light to everyone–a light of God’s redeeming power and love. Keep shining, my sister in Jesus! And please give my belated birthday greetings to your sister. I will be 60 in October, and will join her in living for Jesus in a new decade of life–here or in heaven forever with our Jesus. Let your sister know that her story about giving thanks at Thanksgiving after going through a divorce, flood and fire was and is a blessing to me, since my husband of 25 years deserted our family 13 years ago. Last July 1st, the Lord gave me Ray Ogden as a blessing for this time of my life. Our home is filled with praise to Jesus and so much prayer. I am thankful to have a partner and brother in Christ during this time of international uncertainty.

    Here in Oregon where there are very few coronavirus cases, we are being asked to not congregate in groups of more than 2, and to stay inside. My parents live in a retirement facility of 500 or so, and they are not to leave their duplex. Food is delivered to their door. I have not been over to visit them in two or three weeks, though they live a mile away. I am a bilingual kindergarten teacher, and schools are closed at least until April 28. On Monday, we teachers will turn on our computers at home to see what the district would like us to do to help our kids learn at home. Many of my students do not have computers or internet, so that will be challenging. I am praying…. Stores have many empty shelves and the look on people’s faces shows stress and fear. May the Lord make us different, for He has not changed and is certainly moving world events toward His glorious coming.

    May the power of the Lord Jesus Christ continue to fill you and bless your life.

    In agreement with you this morning. Tomorrow Canadians are having a Day of Prayer with the focus on the Covid-19.Praying for your mom and dad ,self and your Nation and with you praising for F3 and Michelle and team.

    Yes you say true exercise and healthy eating is the best option to stay and i found lying leg curls is also a very great exercise.
